Peeking inside, I noticed a "secondary" flap in the intake runners...much smaller than the primary - what is that for/about?

Btw, new GTI is nice in black, whatever you guys are slamming, it does seem like a better bang for the buck than an A3....a simple model they had ~$23K....the one with all options in red was ~$27K....I'll have to test drive one soon. I like the fact it is 3 door and has an option of a regular sunroof. VW NAV is really confusing and nowhere near the looks/quality of the Audi one. I also liked GTI bucket seats much more than those on A3's. Overall, exterior design is truly European(if you've been in Europe recently and/or follow the trends there) - not sure why many associate the looks with Japanese brands.

I can't judge on overall quality as I really don't even have an A3 nor did I drive the GTi yet to make any judgments like that. Let the flames fire:-)

mistaken. What the hell is the purpose of that? That's one of the reasons I didn't opt for it when I got a Touareg.

A 2.0T A3 will be about $34k and that with Bluetooth not available with the Gti.

MSRP on my 2.0 was 35,300 w/o bluetooth.
