A3 manual is the first decent shift from Audi - don't pass it up

Last 3 cars manual. Miss it. DSG faster and more convenient but not as fun.

Default If you were considering an automatic car or like video games, the DSG is by far the best automatic

transmission alternative you can find. Technically it's a manu-matic as it still retains a clutch.

Yes, some people will tell you that many race cars use some form of manu-matic, but a race car is about being the most efficient (fastest), and not about being the most fun.

However, if you like complete driver involvement, then the 3 pedal car is the only way to go. I drove the 1st gen TT when it came out with DSG, then a broken-in example some time later. Finally I drove a DSG A3 when it came out. I really wanted to like it. As much as I find the technology wonderful and recognize the benefits of DSG, for me it remains an automatic transmission alternative, not a manual transmission alternative.

Drove both back to back - maybe even several times. Go with your gut.

It looks like I'm in the minority group here as I really love the DSG. I will say, though, that I have not driven an A3 with a manual tranny, but I really do enjoy the DSG.

Default I have both - and they're both great. I'm a hardcore stick guy, but I actually...

prefer the DSG as a daily driver. I'm lucky enough that I have 911's when I need a manual fix.

I like the DSG, especially when driving twisty roads, but sometimes (seldom) I do wish for a manual

That's funny - I don't find it jerky, except when cold. I love DSG!
