There's been a lot of talk about reliable methods of unlocking VIM recently. I myself have been looking for a solution for my newly delivered 2016 S3. The emmanueledesign dongle seems to be out of stock, and from everything I've read VCDS can't do it in this generation of the MMI.

In my search I came across VAG-CAN Pro, sold by Home. People on various forums indicate that this particular diagnostic system DOES have the capability of unlocking VIM in our cars. Does anyone have one of these, or know a shop on the east coast that does?

At about $250 it is not prohibitively expensive, however I'm weary of buying one and not being able to use it correctly or worse, screwing up my car somehow.

Any advice/comments on this would be appreciated!

Couldn't the Audi dealer technically unlock VIM since they have access to the VAG equipment?

Not in the US. VIM is not allowed under US law.

Thanks, I've seen you post this before. Any idea if it will work on a non-Nav MMI? From what I understand, the VAG-CAN method will, and I don't really want to throw away $100+ if this module doesn't work...

How's the used market for this software? You could always purchase it for your needs and resell it and likely recoup 80% of the cost. Does anyone know if it's registered to a single vehicle?
