Is there any chance that they haven't already TD1'd it?

At this point I would tow it home, take the piggy back off, and tow it into another dealer and take your chances.

This sounds like a good idea. And if the dealer has TD1'd it. I'd take it to an indy. European specialty shop for a rebuild
or replacement with a good used engine.

I don't agree, there are several ways that that plan could fail, what might be amazing is if that this is not your first Audi, even better if it's your 3rd or 4th, even better with the same dealership, AOA loves loyalty and might be more helpful than you might think.

Eitherway, throw yourself on the mercy of the "court".

One thing I didn't think of in my first mention of this plan, tell Neuspeed too, maybe they will help. With AOA helping, the dealer giving a discount and Neuspeed being fairly reputable you might really knock that 10k down to something you can put on a credit card.

Definitely a bummer. Could be tune related or maybe not. There's no real way to tell but I'd guess there was probably a piston ring defect or something. I did 140k miles and 14 years pushing nearly 30PSI in my A4 without a hiccup and never burned a drop of oil - win some lose some I guess. You got some good advice, but I'm always saddened when advice includes lying. Definitely man up about the tune, but Audi or Audi via a dealer request might cut you a break, and going to an indi for a used engine as previously noted is most likely the cheapest route.

Quite unfortunate. We had a customer with a failed turbo that took it in to a "other tune" friendly dealer, they asked him to remove the JB4. He subsequently had his warranty revoked. When he contacted VW of A they sent him a picture of the JB unit.

Did you run on +5 or +7?

lol. Yes, that's kinda what that means. Stock boost level is way lower. Garret GTX28RS turbo , FMIC, injectors, REVO software, full exhaust, etc etc... was a rocket. handled a ton better than the S3 unfortunately for me now.

I know this is an old post, but what ever happened with your car Goldswing? I was looking to buy a Neuspeed power module. Thanks
