Yes, they did know this was coming, but nobody I think knew how far off they were, until their fleet was run through the actual certification. Every model has to be re-certified. Audi is also under additional scrutiny from the EPA this side of the pond and many 2019 models were already delayed. The 2019 A/S/RS 4/5 were just recently released from the ports. Some of them had been sitting at the ports from as early as August waiting to be certified by the EPA. Just saying, be prepared for potentially lengthy delays with little to no information if you have one on order.
And on a side note, if these cars were sitting that long, they will possibly have flat spots in their tires, which results in horrible steering wheel vibration at higher speeds. Good luck getting Audi to replace faulty tires. I had this happen to me with my 2018 RS3.

Wasn't saying it was all speculation, but the comments about another engine, etc. is certainly just that. When you say "rumor has it" then by definition it is speculation.

I fully understand the comments about the EPA holdups (and I believe some of it was a "software update"...). I know you are right on with that information because I was stuck in that cluster this time last year when my 2018 on order RS3 sat at the port in Galveston for 3 months.

My issue is this... I am not frustrated about the actual wait and reason for the wait as much as i am disgusted with the lack of detail and transparency from Audi. There is always a disconnect between Audi Germany and Audi USA, and even when information makes it to the US, then you have another layer of miscommunication at the dealer level. Factor in all of the chatter on the internet, and you have paranoia on a global scale It really is a poor system to make sure customers stay happy. As I mentioned in my prior post, the only reason I am sticking it out is because of the car... as far as the brand, I am not of a high opinion as of right now.

Anyway, I think we can both agree it is not ideal and hopefully we can get more clarity at some point in the near future.

That is not very likely. The cars are shipped with very over-inflated tires to prevent this from happening.

Baylorguy,
Well stated and I agree with you for sure.
I think there are a lot of us that actually agree with what you said even though most Do-Not post.
I'm going to wait like you and some others as I want the RS3 but ..........
As you said the factual information from Audi is (Pitiful) and if their US Dealers could actually voice their honest opinions in the open like us I have no doubt we would all be in 100% agreement.
If any of us that have been around this sort of thing like myself since the mid 60's and worked for new car dealerships for like 20-years.
You and I and others know our Audi Dealers in the USA would be telling and explaining to us what the heck is really taking place.
But .............
They are not stating Facts simply because they don't know and I am referring the the G/Ms (General Managers) that actually run those Audi Dealerships.
That's who I am working directly with and I do know for a fact he does not know anymore than we all do right now.

Hopefully he will know more next month (February) and then can let me know, hopefully.

Terry

I'm usually the biggest MOAR COLOR guy on the forum ... but woof .... that is an interesting choice for exclusive color. Is that like a metallic bronze? Not what i would have gone with for the $3900 ...

Morbo66,

Well in my case the reason I asked for the information was because of it's (RS3-New) list pricing.
I personally had never seen any RS3 that had a window sticker with that price and All-those-Factory-Options.
So, anyway he sent me the the window sticker as well as a full blown picture of it as I posted.
Honestly I saw the options listed 1st and went over those a few times a lot slower and was really impressed.
In-Fact I was so impressed I considered asking my G/M at Audi here to contact that Audi Dealer and see if they would do a Dealer-Transfer?
The information was sent as (Attachments) so I had not yet seen what that Custom Color was, yet, as it was the 2nd attachment.
I clicked on the 2nd attachment and opened it to a Full Picture on my 24" HP LCD monitor and guys ..........
I was immediately thinking to myself, what the heck is this color and who in the world would order that on a Totally-Loaded-Up RS3 ???
My heart SANK guys and then I thought maybe it would look cool in the daylight and you doggone sure would not see another one, ever !!!
So, I ask my wife which works at home for Cigna Ins. to turn around and come over and take a look at this picture of an RS3 in a Custom Color.
We converted one of our upstairs bedrooms to an office years ago for her (Cathy).
She came over and without really to much thinking said something like, Terry (Me) I don't like that color at all even if it is a Custom Color and it does nothing for enhancing the RS3 to me.
Well so much for what some of us older Married guys like me for plus 35-years getting the wife approval. LOL !!!

If they had done like a Porsche Bright Yellow I think guys I might very well have moved forward on it.
I don't like the Yellow that has that Orange tint to it but I do love the Bright Yellow like a banana.

I have a feeling that RS3 is going to be at that dealership for a long time.

Yeah, that custom color will require a very specific taste. Hopefully a customer ordered car who backed out and not a wasted dealer spec allocation.
