it's an aftermarket control module that you install. I put one in my father-in-law's 911 cab; works flawlessly! It costs a few hundred and you don't especially need any car expertise to install; very good directions with pictures etc...

+1 I installed the module on my 2010 S5 Cab. Works great. You can even park the car, push the button, get out and lock the car while it finishes closing the roof. One of the best mods for the Cabriolet.

Here's the actual install instructions and no it won't mess up the computer: http://www.wit-usa.com/sms/db/smartt...tall_A5/en.php

what if the roof fails to fully close one day and you keep on walking away from the vehicle? Do you have warranty over that?

You have a valid point! The install I did on my father-in-laws 911 didn't require any splicing of wires and was therefore totally reversible with no evidence of install. This doesn't seem to be the case for the A5/S5. It is a good product though in my opinion.

I don't have a cab at this time but I fail to see the value tradeoff vis-a-vis the potential risks and the opportunity cost of a few hundred bucks outlay. I found I could always wait the 35 seconds or whatever to make sure everything went fine and nothing got jammed. I am old fashioned and have my own ways, so I may well be the minority on this. Haven't used the bluetooth functionality on any of my cars; I turn my cell phone off at 7 PM weekdays and all day weekends. I hate to be bothered by crap; being alone is pure luxury. If there's an emergency someone can call on the land line and leave a message or get a friend/relative to somehow track me down. They all seem to enjoy the intrusions of these techy devices and love the thrill of "I wonder where Bob is" - let 'em go for it. If I have an emergency I turn the cell phone back on and usually anyone I need to call is right there - they love to get calls! My take on cars is that they are driving machines - period, so the fewer tricky bells and whistles the better!
