About to Purchase used 2013 A5 2.0L, any advice?
I currently own a 2012 A6 3T........a 2009 A4 2T........and a 2014 Q5 3T. I am quite familiar with the issues I have had with the A4 2T, which currently has 222K miles on it. But I am about to sell the A4 and buy an A5 2T with 122K miles. Wondering what issues I should look out for. Ran a Car Fax and noticed that the front chain was never replaced. Has that been resolved? Anything else to look for? It runs smooth and no known issues. Also, what is a fair price to unload the A4 premium Plus. It is good to OK condition, but it needs door locks and engine mounts replaced. Just don't feel like doing that work myself.
Thanks

A chain always wears out. The tensioner will not be the self-destructive design, but the chain always eventually wears out. So get the engine up to temp and drive it around a tad and check the camshaft adaptation intake bank 1 value to see where you're at. Or just take the inspection cover off the lower timing cover and look.
Otherwise, it's just like your other CAEB. Is it burning oil (this will all be a risk with any Gen2 EA888 that hasn't been confirmed to have had the rings/pistons work done), is the tensioner extended, is the turbo rattling, etc.
But being a B8.5, those have that afterrun coolant pump recall (different pump from the B8.0). You'll want to know if the recall was done, and was the pump ever left disconnected (fire risk, so if inadequate replacement stock, they were leaving it disconnected). The disconnect provided an extended warranty on the turbo. It's not good or bad either way, but a detail you should know the details of if you're going to own it.
