100 lbs heavier? The S4 weighs 11 lbs less than the S5, in spite of being about four inches longer. That tells me that the 3.0T-equipped future S5 should be able to lose some weight ... I just need to wait some more.

^^^ +1. regardless of whether the new engine is heavier or not, Audi is definitely setting their goal in near future to on weight reduction across all series. V8 is not death. The new lineup (maybe 2012) will look something like this (IMO):
A5 - 2.0T and maybe 3.2
S5 - 3.0T (this put a big question mark on how long Audi will stick with 3.2)
RS5 - V8 (if they ever get to US soil)

I think it would be a shame if the A5 was only available with a four cylinder engine.

I love my V8 in my S5. I simply roll up to those putting alongin the 3.0t , and step on the gas in heutral so they can hear how purty she is!
