Automatic. Although I would love to learn and buy a manual car, a few friends have said that manual in traffic is not fun. I could always use tiptronic when I want.

I wouldn't suggest "learning" to drive manual on a $50+ car

Since you're leaning towards the automatic, I would push you in the direction of waiting for the 2012 S5 with the supercharged V6. It will come with the available S-tronic transmission which is a dual-clutch semi-auto transmission. A MUCH better transmission than then current Tiptronic. You'll thank me later if you make the choice for the S-tronic. Plus, the S5 with the supercharged V6 is going to be a pretty mean machine...

Ok, so why are you talking about taking a car from inventory then?

I was saying to wait until August to taking a car from inventory. This was the lowest of my 3 options as there would probably not be too many left.

Yeah, inventory will be cleared out by then. There might be 25 3.2s in the country now

The 2011 S5 (and almost all of the rest of the Audi line) will have the new 8 Speed Tiptronic (ZF 8HP). According to the ZF website the shift times have been reduced to 200 ms and the drag loss of the transmission has decreased. Don't know how this will translate into real world performance but the web site suggests that acceleration should be better then the old 6 speed, as well as better fuel economy.

I confirmed with my local Audi Dealer that the 8 Speed Tip was in the 2011 S5, as i was ordering mine.

(1) Order the 2.0 A5 Prestige exactly how I want it (except for the V6)
(2) Look for the closest match to what I want at the local dealers (I would not actually to be able to do this option until August which would limit my already limited choice of 3.2 Prestige models)
(3) Wait a year and hope the S5 coupe goes to turbo-charged V6 like the cab

What are the chances that the S5 goes V6 next year? Also, I read somewhere that there may be a face-lift next year for the A5/S5. I already love the way it looks and I am worried that a face-lift may not make it look better (for example, I don't like the new look of the Acura TL). Is there any truth to that?

What do you think I should do? Also, if anyone has any more news on the 2011 or 2012 models please let me know. Thanks in advance.
There are tons of A5 3.2 in AOL Cars, just do a search nationwide and pick what you want, then trade it in when S5 V6T arrives but in the mean time, get what you desire.

Since your job isn't gonna start anytime soon + it's better rate to loan from your bank than going through Audi finance --> I would search for a a used 3.2 in the market. There are quite a few. Many are relatively low on miles + 10k saving between a new vs used fully loaded A5 Sline (3.2)

8 Speed Tiptronic in UK had very bad reviews for Audi. It seems like MPGs are improved but overall performance decreased, seems like the 6 speed tiptronic was a better pick for the A5/S5. I am in England by the way hence island-chick so stop getting me involved in your kid games out here in the forum

Question for Upstate New York drivers
Can anyone help me? I do have personalized plates on my S5 and is time to renew my registration, however, I do want to go back to my old plates ( and save a few bucks ) which are by the way part of the registration anyways. Can I just install the old ones myself? Should I return personalized ones to DMV?

How should I approach this??

Thank you guys ( and girls )
