Default My 09 A5 3.2L has Oil Consumption issue.

Hi all, I have 09 A5 3.2L 114K miles and lately I have gotten low oil light and I usually add a quart and the light goes away. I have to add a quart every 1000-1500 miles. I think this is not normal. I did some search and found this is known issue in earlier models. I called Audi and they asked me to come in and do an oil consumption test. I'm sure if I should take it in or just put a quart when I get the oil light.

At that mileage its time to get rid of that lemon and move away from vw /audi. They all will say "it's normal"

I would never rely on the AMI display for oil. Do yourself a huge favour and install a proper dipstick. I think you'll find that you have been constantly over-filling the car with oil if you add a quart each time your display shows that. I wouldn't be surprised than in doing so you may have compromised some seals due to excess crankcase pressures.
I have 113k kms on my 3.2 and I burn about 1/4 to 1/2 a litre of oil between oil changes which is every 5k miles.

Is all of your scheduled maintenance up to date?
How long are your oil change intervals?
What brand and viscosity oil are you using?

The 3.2L is one of the most bullet proof Audi engines.

Everything is up to date. I put 3 quarts in last 3 months 5w40 castrol. I have another car I do my daily driving so not many miles.

After topping the light goes away. I just place ordered for dipstick at the dealer.
