P0302 Adventure
I purchased a CPO '13 A5 with 42000 miles back in November 2015. On occasion I noticed that it didn't sound quite kosher while idling but otherwise it seemed to drive fine. Three weeks ago, the check engine light came on. My ODB reader gave a P0302 code. Took it to Audi Central Houston and they diagnosed the problem as a bad fuel injector. They replaced it and I was on my way until 3 days later when the CE light came back on. This time, something was clearly wrong as both idle and acceleration sounded abnormal. This time, they pulled the cylinder head and found "cam lobes & rocker rollers pitted and grooved, bearing surface in cylinder head cover scored". They replaced the cylinder head, intake and exhaust lifters, rockers and cams, cam breaking bridge and intake cam ACV.
It was all done free of charge under the CPO agreement so I'm not complaining. I just wonder what would cause that kind of damage so early in the car's life.
I give kudos to the dealership and Audi for not giving me a speck of trouble throughout the process.
