Default My assessment of "definitely not new" was based on win's description of the headlights.

For having dealt with the same kind of headlights in the past, win's description made it seem like the headlights were indeed used.

I was actually shocked to read that. If you're the same OEMPLUS that was selling OEM HID units on the vwvortex forums, I recall you had a solid reputation, which is why I was surprised to read win's comments.

I cannot judge on that particular transaction because i'm not involved and these things always show a little bias by both parties.

However, my conclusion is that for win to be so unhappy, there must've been something done wrong somewhere along.

Quick little tip : If the broken clips are referring to the mounting clips, taping a piece of styrofoam between the clip and the housing usually does the trick in avoiding that they break during shipping.

Default Thanks for the suggestion...

After breaking quite a few tabs in years past, we import all of our lights with either foam or rolled cardboard under the tabs to prevent exactly this situation.

The nice thing about the A5/S5 lights (to Audi's credit) is that the main tabs are hinged with adjusters built into them, so breaking one really takes some effort and creativity...

Default The picture serves what purpose?

1. I had my detailer clean up all the nicks at my own expense.
2. What happened to the clips?
3. The drippy clear coating is bothersome not from a functional standpt., it is aesthetics. I pay top dollar, I expect top product. How is it possible that my original headlamp units do not exhibit this same flaw then?

Bottomline is, my order was bungled. Refund has been bungled as far as I can tell, and if there weren't as many prior "incidents/issues" to my return, I would've just looked the other way. But now, looking at it all together, its just a clustered/compounded mountain of problems.

"Costs me money to refund it directly to my card."
Well, cost me money to clean up the defective parts ($400ish in all), how much could it be to charge it directly back to my card. Instead you chose to compromise customer satisfaction and do it by supposedly snail mail, with no form of tracking.

Default And I do not appreciate you questioning the skillsets of Rector Porsche...

They have been stellar in all my past experiences with them and go the extra mile to do what's necessary, not what's convenient.

Default Finally - have you made purchases from either of those vendors?

I have ordered from madaudi.com quite a few times, but I continue to return because they have always taken care of me. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

Default Not throwing stones at anyone here

Alwin,

I have no way to judge the skillset of the installer that you choose to work with your car and do not doubt that the technicians at Rector are top-notch. I am merely saying that these vehicles (like Porsches, Mercedes, etc.) are complex and that there can be a learning curve when working with a new or unfamiliar model.

It is a testament to the skills of your detailer that the lights look as good upon return as when they shipped. I only wish that we had photos of how they arrived to you, as this is what our UPS insurance is for. Regarding the discoloration of the back of the housing, I can only compare them to other lights we have received in the past. The included photo was only to show the quality of the items while they were in our possession and nothing more.

As mentioned, lets wait to see what happens with USPS tomorrow. If they don't deliver as planned, we will make alternate arrangements to ensure your satisfaction.
