Tinting A5/S5
Hi all,
Since tinting is technically illegal in where I live, I couldn't find a shop that has tinted an A5/S5 before. I know there is a risk of getting the subwoofer damaged associated with the tinting, and I did a search on the A5 forum. The only think I found was about a water leakage.
My question is, does the leakage comes during the tinting process, or after the tinting process? Wouldn't tinting be the same as opening the trunk lid during a rain?
Can someone give me the links to posts about the pre-cautionary steps needed to prevent such problems? I need to show it to shop before they touch my car. Thanks!

Sub and B&O can even fry if the someone just washes back window . . .
Audi poorly designed the vehicle having the sub below the rear window deck. Look on page 6 of your owners manual, it should tell you how to protect the components. It is important to have the rear shelf covered with plastic, protect the sub under the rear shelf and the radio control module in the left panel in the trunk. (Covering with plastic during the process should protect it) The dealer fried my B&O system while preppring the car for delivery.

Re: A few days back, someone said they moved the sub and electronics to the side for MY09....
Mine WAS a '09, brand new off the truck. Control module was in a compartment on left side of trunk and still fried.

I got mine handwashed by someone, and you just have to say it a few times...
..and have them write it in the paperwork, if you are dealing with a receptionist.
I spoke directly with guy who does the work, so I told him, then I cited specific examples from this forum--so he would not feel I was just being dramatic and pulling stuff out of the air.
He appreciated me pointing it out, and the examples I gave help make the case and helped "plant the seed" in his mind.
