Default White Steering Wheel Thread

And by thread I mean the thread that the leather is stitched together with.

I have a black interior in my car which has a black leather steering wheel with white stitching. Every time I drive my car I worry about the white stitching getting dirty.

After having the car for a year it still looks great. I always take care in cleaning it but it seems like a bad place for anything white.

Has anybody noticed that theirs is getting dingy, or does anybody have any tips to keep it looking good for the many years I plan to keep the car?

This might sound funny, but if you do happen to get the white thread dirty, you can easily clean it up using OxiClean. I had a black steering wheel with white stitching in one of my cars and my mother actually convinced me to try her OxiClean to make the stitching white again. It worked amazingly well. It went from looking dirty to looking bright white again.

Artists you a clear seal on some of their acrylic based paintings. It can be sprays or brush on and works really well as a repelant. it can also be wiped down with a damp cloth and the dust and dirt comes off because it lies onto of the sealant. In my opinion it would work quite well.

You don't want anything on your steering wheel that might impede your grip (therefore not any sort of clear seal).

Oxiclean does work remarkably well, and as it's safe to use.

enjoy it and let use do its part. otherwise you will end up with a shiny stitching and worn seats and what not. it's hard to get those dirty by the way, one would have to be a real ***** to mesh those. use a magnifying glass and see how the threads are stitched, you will be surprised how well they are arranged so that unless you forced down on wheel it won't be come close.
