OBD Eleven or VAGCOM.

OBD Eleven is much more User Friendly and much less expensive. They offer several levels of hardware and you can select from an android-based software or iOS-based software. Your best bet is to look at the OBDEleven.com website to see the different models / software setups they offer as well as looking at the various "apps" they offer on each platform. You can buy the device from them or from a US-based distributor (DAP.com is one of the lower priced re-sellers but you can also buy the devie from Amazon.com).

VAG-COM is primarily their own selling site. If you Google Vag-Com you'll be pointed to their site.

Thank you! I was waiting for it to work well with iPhone. I haven't checked since I got the car.

While there are some limitations in the iOS version when compared to the Android version, I think they will be pretty much even as they have been updating the iOS software a couple of times a month. NOTE: iOS software will only work with the latest generation OBDEleven hardware adapter. That hardware adapter will work with both iOS and Android software.

I wonder if this is an A5 option and not an RS5 option with the carbon bottom, I haven't been able to get this working.

Its not a RS thing, its a Carbon trim specific issue. Kick to open works just fine on my RS.
