Default 2023 Audi S5 Interior Light color changing help

Hello guys, so I just bought the 2023 S5 and I have a question. It’s a premium plus and doesn’t have the color-changing interior lights in the MMI that you can change. But the weird thing is that when I unlock the car and open the door there is a thin line above the inside door handles of all four doors that light up red for about 3-5secs and then it turns off. This makes me feel like maybe the car has the capability to have the interior lights change colors and might have to cos it with OBDeleven or something. Can anyone advise, please? thank you.

Depends on the QQ_ PR code. QQ1 only has white LED units. QQ2 has the RGB LED units and the LIN bus lines to manage the colors. That's probably just the central locking status light you're seeing.

I think only Prestige comes with the RGB interior lighting, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

@Sh3rman - look in the trunk or your maintenance booklet for a white label with a bunch of 3 letter codes on them. An email to Audi of America with your VIN requesting the full build sheet (PR Codes) will also help. As TheTurbanator has stated only the Prestige comes optioned with full RGB interior lighting. The thin red line you see is the warning signal in the event you open a door when the pre-sense rear has noticed an oncoming object like a car or bicycle.

FWIW, those red lights I believe are pre-sense warnings for when you are stopped and something is about to pass you and would clip your door if you opened it. They are actually a different kind of LED and not meant to be on full time. I believe people who have tried to make them stay on for ambiance reasons have had them get hot and fry.

This is the correct answer. Color changing lights are only on Prestige I believe and are not those particular red LED strips.

In addition to the White or RGB light strips, any car with the pre sense sides gets those Red LED strips. You cannot change the Red colour even in cars with the RGB option.

I have an S4 and when I check the builder on the Audi US site it doesn’t even list this as an option or being included - I can get not including it in the lower trims but if it’s featured in the upper trim level then you’d think it would be mentioned on their site?

What year US order guide are you looking at? The 2022 & 2023 ones for the S4 and S5 with Prestige trim have this line in it "LED Interior lighting plus package (adds: door trim contour & color options)"
