3G turndown aka shutdown - it's a bummer
AT&T’s 3G turndown is scheduled to begin on 2/22/22.

The document does not indicate if Audi plans to update the car for 4G

I believe a whole new 4G module would be required and much like Audi saying “Kiss My A$$” to those of us who lost the ability to see the “earth overlay” in our MMI, I’m relatively sure Audi will have the exact same response to those of us with 3G modules. I find this statement from your posted link to be the most telling:
”In order to free up resources for 5G services, telecommunication providers are turning down their 3G networks. This means that any device, including hardware found within certain Audi vehicles and other manufactures’ vehicles, operating on a 3G network will no longer have an active connection and will be unable to transmit or receive data. . . This is known as technological obsolescence. Occasionally, industry advancements result in older products becoming incompatible with new technology. With a majority of connected devices now utilizing the 4G network, telecommunication providers are moving away from 3G in order to use that bandwidth to support their 5G network rollouts.“
No statement reflecting the fact that Audi COULD make their MMI more modular, by having the potential “technical obsolescence” hardware easily replaced or upgradeable to keep technology current. No — the Audi solution is “ . . . Buy a new Audi or just keep losing features!” Not even a “we’re bad or so sorry.”

Does this mean the emergency call button under the cover on the overhead console becomes obsolete? Also, if in a serious wreck...emergency services would not be called?

It is understandable that 3G is being shutdown by the providers. But leaving owners with cars less than 5 years old with no upgrade path is reprehensible. This will by last VW/Audi product considering their FU attitude with their owner support. As of today no downloadable map update. I had logged into myAudi to check that's when I saw this notice. A good friend is looking to replace his 12 year old Acura TL he was considering A6 after driving my car. I will make sure Audi is no longer in his list.

With the exception of the emergency call button, all the features Audi is removing by this latest “FU CUSTOMERS,” are still available to me with the Drone remote start system I installed 18 months ago. And, the Drone system is 4G (they, it seem, have some forward looking engineers on their design team).
So while I am upset by the attitude and lack of foresight shown by Audi, I’m not losing as much. But, they are losing the ability to keep me as a customer.
Their Loss.

This is ridiculous, Audi has enough pull to keep 3G systems active or update the system to 4g.
So are 2021 cars also going to be obsolete at the old age of less than a year?
Do they have 4g modules?
Edit: So upon some digging in the past Audi has sent letters like in this thread offering to no cost replace modules to keep 3G connection.

if you have a 2016 audi you should be safe because after 2016, all Audi cars came with 3G and 4G. go to this link: https://about.att.com/story/att_and_..._vehicles.html
Just in case you cannot get there: BARCELONA, March 3, 2015– AT&T* and Audi of America today announced an agreement in which all 2016 model-year Audi vehicles equipped with Audi connect® will come with AT&T 4G LTEor 3G coverage**. AT&T and Audi enabled the first-ever in-vehicle 4G LTE data connection in North America with the all-new Audi A3 models released in 2014.
SO you may lose the 3G, but you should have the 4G, ever better, should be faster. In addition, it is not only audi, but all car manufactures are losing their 3G. It is the cell phone companies forcing the changes.
