Default That engine is used everywhere.

And the 2018 A6 and A4 and Q5, basically used across the board.

The 2.0T is certainly tried, but I wouldn't characterize it as true. Even the supposedly vastly improved revision used in the B8.5 is beginning to exhibit problems with chain stretch as those vehicles approach the 100k mile range and anyone familar with the B8 version knows it was a disaster. I am going with an S5 or S4 this gen specifically to avoid the 2.0T.

I absolutely love my B9 2.0T and loved my MK1 Q5 2.0T...of course if I had a 3.0T S5 or SQ5, I’d probably think differently. I had a S4 loaner once and I nearly giggled like a school girl when I punched the accelerator the first time and it launched...but my roommate at the time sure did giggle when I insisted he try it out. It was fun and he was funny!

4 cylinder engines are for cheap hatchbacks.

The newest revisions of the ea888 and have been shown to be very capable and reliable, I dont think there is really any cause for concern. The EA8883B is honestly an incredible engine I dont really understand the complaints here as I have none of them in the Q5. It's certainly one of, if not the best 4cyl turbos on the market.

My 18 A5 Cab is very quiet. No wind noise and I have the 2.0 engine and don't notice much noise from it. I like to hear the engine when I drive but this car is very quiet even at 100mph. It may have something to do with the fact that it's a sportback. Although I would think that if they can make the cab fairly quiet, the sportback should be a no brainer. There are however, different aerodynamics

I think the 2.0T is strong in terms of both performance and efficiency, and much of the criticism is likely coming from snobs who believe that a 4-cylinder is beneath them. However, it is too early to conclude that the current generation is reliable. The first gen was horrendously unreliable and the second gen is better but it is turning out to be less reliable as time passes. If one is only interested in leasing, I'm sure it will be fine, but would not be confident in its reliability beyond that.

There are better 4 cyl turbo engines out there, in my opinion, the Audi 2.0T is an above average engine, it is not tried and true like the BMW I6 engine or the Jeep inline 6. I am a snob when it comes to cars, I want what I want and do not like to compromise.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other here, but just curious if there is any data / evidence to support that claim.
