My acceleration figure of choice is 5-60mph.

S5 5.8s
RS5 4.6s
M340i 4.7s

I know that S5' 0-60mph is a great 4.3s, but 5-60 5.8s is bad for what it is. My 290HP TLX SH-AWD had the same!! I wonder if the delta of 4.3s (0-60) to 5.8s (5-60) for the S5 is realistic. Did they make the test in Dynamic mode / S ? ... doesn't look like.

This - my guess is Audi cars will see power boosts when they go to EVs, or hybrid assisted ICE cars.

That is very strange, as the S5 traps 109 mph in the quarter mile, whereas the TLX SH-AWD only traps 100 mph. 1/4 mile trap speed is a much better indicator of horsepower than low-speed acceleration numbers.

Although I agree with many above posts about audis lacking in power compared to BMW and MB, I have zero remorse or regret for choosing the S5.

first of all, the sound is incredible.
Build quality is the best
the cabin is such a nice place to be - especially at night. People are saying that the S5 rattles. I have had zero issues with rattles. But I have only 6k on it

i had two bimmer in the past - 535 and a E90 M3.
i think this (S5) is the best car I’ve ever owned.

currently, build quality, design and execution of the new 3 series repels me. That speedo/tach layout is gross.

i never drove one so I can’t say, however, I saw one at the showroom, climbed in the back seat, got out, shut the door and left immediately. The “clap” or shutting the door has nothing on the solid thud of the S5. Bimmer door feels like its made from plastic - which it might be.

Anyways, I enjoyed the power and handling of my M3, especially the engine note, however I think BMW went wrong somewhere along the road

That speedo/tach layout is gross.

No kidding, that speedo-tach looks like it's from a PlayStation driving game, it really is awful. You can code in Alpina gauges, but they don't look much better, maybe worse.

3.8 to 60 is impressive.

Before I decided to get my new RS5 SB three weeks ago, my plan was to wait for the new M3. BMW has been under rating its horsepower for several years now and I’m sure these new ones will be the same. But... some of the new BMW styling has not done much for me. The rendering of what the new M3 might look like.... yuck!!! 510HP or not. In the end I went with what I think is the best looking sedan on the market... inside and out. And oh by the way it has 444hp to boot.... yeah I’m good. The massive torque that the Audi cars deliver is the approach that Audi has decided to go with. In normal to spirited driving they “feel” faster even if they are not. When you really go all out, no question the BMWs with more power and less weight are going to have the advantage. But from behind the wheel to most drivers the torque will feel faster.

Im going to attach the latest G80 M3 rendering based on the M Concept and test mules..... what do you think?

The front grill, the front grill, looks like a pair of big snowshoes!

For years I thought Honda was trying to mimic the look of BMW with their Accord - now it looks like BMW is returning the favor by making it's 3 series look like a Civic.
