They are separate bulbs that are part of the headlight cluster and are aimed to the sides. The button is the upper left of the headlight ****. It is an icon of a headlight beaming downward with a rain cloud and rain. Just toggle on and off and you can go look in front of the car or at the light pattern showing more coverage to the left and right. I turn on all the time.

They also, individually, function as low speed turning lights.

I noticed mine had turned on a few days ago. The icon in the Virtual Cockpit stated they were auto initiated. There was no rain that day, so i'm not sure why the lights were turned on.
