Yep, they suck.

Yet another overhyped bull**** feature that disappoints.

The headlights on my wifes Maxima put these to shame.

Add it to the list.

I find the headlights (matrix LED) on my 2018 S5 Sportback to be adequate. They are better than the ones on my previous car (2014 BMW 438i with matrix headlight upgrade) The adaptive high beam definitely works better on the Audi than the BMW.

However, it's a bit frustrating to find that the high beam on my wife's car is definitely superior, especially when that's a 2003 Australian Ford Falcon with standard halogen projector headlights. The low beam on the Falcon is abysmal though

Aside from a slight handling advantage, my only disappointment switching from BMW to Audi The lights are just not as good, most notably on low beams and when turning.

Nah, the bmw led headlights are no better than the s5 with foglight on. Some of the car i had with hid healights are brighter than led headlights, the color is not as white though.

Yes, they get a higher score if the headlights include auto high beam. The A4 LED headlights perform better than the A5 LED headlights so the base A4 headlights + auto high beams points got it to acceptable. It appears it was not enough on the A5 even with auto high beam points added in. You can compare the light charts between the two cars (A5 left vs A4 right) and the A4 does much better on left curves and drivers straight. Illumination straight ahead is one of the biggest problems with the A5 headlights.
Thanks for the diagrams. They really illuminate the problem (he, he...).
I'm definitely going to attempt to raise the left headlight a few degrees.

Welcome. Best to illustrate to everyone. Let me know how much you turn and the results you get. I read 3/4 to 1 turn clockwise is good. Our LED headlights have really woeful straight ahead performance.

This is my first car with LED headlights and I was wondering what the all the hype was. Now I know it's just a bad implementation from Audi.

Upwardly mobile Hyundai and Kia are doing a good overall job on headlights. Take a look at the Genesis G70 competitor that blows our Audi away with its LED projectors with curve and high beam assist.

I am assuming all these test are done with the Audi factory settings which is set too low.

I think the Matrix LEDs that they have outside the US are better then the standard LED lights we get here in the States.
