Rain shield for backup camera

The deficient camera and the housing have been complained about before. It is poor design. Also just had to replace mine. I need to go back and Rainx it again.

A digression here, but I was in a 2018 A5 Cab loaner the other day and the rear-view camera was clearly different than in mine. It was shockingly bad for a car in 2018 - like 5+ years out of date. Is that a S5 vs. A5 thing? or a trim-level spec? It was a pretty bare bones A5 vs.my S5 prestige but the A5 clearly had a build date more recent than mine as the 2nd USB was under the dash. It was bad enough quality that I felt embarrassed for Audi.

The camera quality just sucks. I wish they'd get rid of the fisheye effect while they are at it. It's annoying. Early Macan owners complained about the camera quality A LOT when the car first came out.

The fisheye cameras are what allows for the 360 degree view of the car which I think is cool. They could have added another camera used just for the backup cam but then that cost just gets passed on to the consumer. The reality is there is no way to please everyone. Someone will always find a fault.

With the fisheye lens, it's really important to pay attention to the lines on the screen that indicate where the car will actually go vs. what's around it. Otherwise, it looks pretty scary as I back up to a big SUV, only to see from the lines and 360 camera that I'm really nowhere near it. It definitely takes some getting used to.

I am really surprised that you guys are complaining about the image quality. I also have a 2018 Infiniti Q50 with 360 deg cameras and when I compare the two, the Q50 image is like looking at analog TV vs. Blu-Ray for the Audi. The Infiniti cameras are 100% useless at night.

The S5' rear camera is under the lip of the hatchback, somewhat shielded from rain and it is also angle downward. I think it is a pretty good design and the wide angle lens is a nice safety feature. With that said, the S5' rear camera does get wet for some reason, water must be splashing onto it or it is tracking its way down to the camera from underneath the hatchback.
