Page 106 of the manual has more info.
Are you sure that is correct? I was under the impression the green foot was a symbol to take your foot off of the gas because the car is coasting and thus ins "Boost Mode" which means it can help increase mpg. It only does it for me when I am going a decent speed and often down hill and the car is coasting.

8.7 l/100 km on the way back today, that's at the lower end of what I used to get on the A4... I'm becoming adept at hypermiling with this thing

8.4 l/100 km today... This is with the "normal" tire pressure as opposed to the low pressure I had before, light on the acceleration but an overall pretty reasonable driving style. I guess it is really is possible to get A4-level fuel economy in this, I'm quite pleased. I know people hate the auto start/stop but it definitely plays a part.

I've been keeping track of my MPG every 1000 miles and this is what I have so far. Nothing great but shes improving over time. I think I'm about at a plateau now, we'll see.

Now that the summer tires are back on the car, I'm routinely getting between 28.5 and 30mpg on my 30 mile morning commute. First 10 miles are on an empty country road doing about 55mph with a few stop signs and some hills. Last 20 miles are all highway and depending on traffic I can usually do about 80mph pretty steady. Average speed for the trip is close to 60mph and total elevation change is negligible.

Transmission is usually in 'S', but with cruise control on it shifts up to 8th gear just like if it was in 'D' mode.
