TSB 2052251/4 Bang & Olufsen: Audio distorted from all input sources
#12
While checking the door for rattles, I've noticed that the bass speaker has a slight rattle with some bass frequncies, most noticeable at high volumes and when I put the ear near them.
Maybe that's why when I max up the bass I got like sort of distortions.
The partnumber of mine is 8W503529.
According to the TSB posted in first post, there is a revision for that speaker, 8W5035297A.
Also from TSB:
Anyone has more insights into this? Did you notice the overall improvement after changing the old speakers with the updated ones?

Due to the differences between the updated woofer and the original woofer it is not permissible to
have unmatched woofer between doors. Therefore, replace the affected woofer in both the left and right
front doors.

Bump!
@Bobby Kinstle do you still have the front door speakers? If yes, can you please check if you have the revised ones (8W5035297A).

same issue 2021 RS5
They replaced all fronts...still sounds like they are blown at volume >50%....at 75% it's just awful
I just sent the TSB to my dealer to see if they knew about it

2. Good idea.
3. Hope you get satisfied.
So, you are playing "high quality" tracks, right? Properly ripped CD to WAV and SACD to 6-channel FLAC sound good to me in my 2021-A5.
However, I think the loudest I've ever had it is 70%. The rear-view and even side-mirrors are vibrating. I like loud music, but that is loud-enough for me. Plus, don't want to trash-out or break anything on my new car (before it gets broken-in).
Maybe some time with the roof open/back and the windows-down, I would have a reason to try louder.

Had mine done about a year ago. The woofer in the driver's door blew so they replaced both front door woofers. They also updated the amp software to keep it from happening again. I think the issue was, at times, the B&O amp was overpowering some of the speakers. I did notice that not as much bass comes from the door speakers anymore. Guess that is one way to fix the issue. Cut the power going to the woofers.

I would bet they just adjusted the active Band pass filter for the door woofer and raised the bottom end crossovers frequency. So same power, just the lower end is now slightly higher.
A trick that is extremely common.
