"crunching" from suspension while cold - normal?

I don't recall this in past winters on the AR, but when hitting dips in the road at cold temps, there is a crunching noise from one or more of the corners. Another example would be if you go over a speed bump.
Is this "normal" for our cars?
I know some cars are notorious for this noise - e.g., my parents' Camry used to make noises very winter, and way-back-when their Cavalier used to crunch like a bag of potato chips.
Do you folks in cold climes hear this occasionally?
