2001 allroad vs 2004 Pasaat 2.0 Diesel
OK,
So the lease on my 2001 A6 4.2 ends in a couple of months, and the buyout is stupid. So, I was contemplating moving from a gas guzzling V8 to a Diesel Pasaat. However I stumbled across a loaded 2001 allroad (117,000 km) today that is in excellent condition (and I'll get a dealer to confirm that).
I am a bit nervous about owning an Audi off the warranty. Things like exhaust, turbos, not to mention all the toys like the fancy suspension, worry me. It also burns probably a bit more fuel than my V8 since its a heavier car than the A6 sedan, and with the twin turbos (which nicely kick in around 1400 rpm) it does not help the fuel economy.
That said, I KNOW it is an awesome vehicle, and the price is about the same as what I'd pay for the new Pasaat that comes with a 4 year warranty.
Just interested in comments from some of you out there with allroads - as well as feedback on this sort of a choice.

after a 4.2, a 2.0 diesel will not cut the mustard
This is just my guess, since we don't get the 2.0 diesel motor here in the colonies. If you're used to the power of the V8, an allroad will satisfy, while getting slightly better gas mileage. I've bought an aftermarket warranty to ease my fears about a turbo car with air suspension.

If u want Speed and Luxury ... Allroad
I test drove a Passat wagon ... it's nothing like the drive of the AR. Before i bought the AR, I was seriously considering the Passat wagon and test drove one ... even ask the dealer for the W8 Passat. But after the AR test drive, WOW! Get the AR.
