Default 4.2 allroad with a 6-speed?

Sadly, I know this isn't possible, which makes the note I just received from Len Hunt even more annoying. Apparently, I've reached the date that AOA feels they can start pushing new models on me, so they sent me a card reminding me how great the new allroad is. Here is an excerpt:

"There is a new 4.2 liter V8 edition with 300 horsepower, plus 6-speed manual or 5-speed Tiptronic(R) transmission, 5-spoke alloy wheels and more..."

Too bad it isn't true. Well, each individual item is true, but the implication that a 4.2 liter 6-speed exists isn't.

Bummer, I'd buy a 2004 Cobalt Blue 4.2 w/ 6-speed in about a second.

Default I second the notion......

When I had my dealer locate my 6 speed, I gave all of them (salesman, finance guy, and manager)a stern lecture about manuals vs. automatics.....which they did agree to.....lots of sporting guys there. In fact everyone there wanted to drive the sucker as they had never seen a 6 speed allroad.....even very few A6's with a stick.

Sorry, the Tip is not a "substitute" for a good manual tranny....no matter how "good" it is or where you put the paddles or buttons for it. It is still just an automatic......great for some cases, but I still demand a choice.

Audi should have a 6 speed 4.2. Oh sure, they'll say the same thing as always....no demand for it.
Well after my search it almost looks like EVERY '03 6 speed produced is probably about gone now.....and tons of Tips left. If they would just produce the freaking things and get a few out to the dealers they would sell. Usually it takes an act of congress to even find an allroad or even an A6 6-speed to test drive.....how you supposed to buy one when there are none??

Default And I third the notion. . .

My dealer sales rep says all the 6spds he can get he can sell and you're right they have both 03 and 04 tips just sitting there.

But my dealer sales rep always "offers" customers to try a 6spd whenever there is one to drive.

Says he had made more than a few converts.

A 6spd 4.2L A6, allroad, HELL YES!

Default You have to order one... (a 6-speed that is).

I'm referring to the 2.7t, not the 4.2.

As for the stick shift 4.2... only on the S4. I'd love to take one of those for a drive! =)

Default Try the car first, before thinking a 6-speed.

I had put over 1200 miles on my 4.2. Last night I first time drove this car on Jersy Turnpike to Newwark Airport. Getting jamed between exit6 & 7A for 45 minetes I had to speed up for pickup in law in time, this car was flying through the rest trip like 400 horse sport coupe. The car zooms as soon as gaspaddle is pressed. My honest opinion, try the car as it is before thinking a 6-speed. I didn't know the bumpers, hood, and roof racks are made of aluminum untill today!
