About to come out of factory warranty.... Anybody have a checklist?
I looked around but too many hits.
1. Tie rod ends
2. Cam shaft seals
3. Cam adjuster seals ?
Would appreciate any other things to have my independant check for.
Thanks!
Gavin

Has your torque converter been replaced if you are a TIP? If not I'm not sure what they
can check for ahead of time on that...anyone?
Have them run a VAG scan...check for air bag leaks in suspension, or you can do if you're handy. This sounds minor but be sure to run all the fans (even the AC in the winter and run all the electronics to make sure all switches are working...tail liftgate latch working properly...make sure there are no smells, especially when you have been driving for awhile and park....my cam seals never leaked to be noticeable but they did produce a smell...that's all I've got to stop with...also you can search as you say and review all the other lists...you have the big ones listed...I don't know how your warranty reads on brakes but have them checked if yours are covered and be a hard a$$ about having the rotors changed not "turned, polished" or any other bs...good luck.

Once your out of warrenty, just drive the living daylights out of it
don't let it rest, catch little things before they become big (CV boots ect) Keep it clean, and Don't Worry about it...
Works for me...Running Nakid for almost a 100k now...
Don't even think about getting out of it untill repairs cost more then 6months of payments on a new one.

Peace of Mind = Extended Service Contract

Love risks; bicycle racing, rock climbing. Hate expenses. Weigh cost to benefit ratio including stress factors. (AFLAC has been very good to me.) I like to drive mine like I stole it. Do not have time to wrench on it as a painting contractor with plenty to do.
For 2300 bucks I bought a comprehensive plan from Universal Underwriters Group 888-835-5063. Even my servicing dealer was impressed with the plan. Good from the 50k I had to 100k or 5 more years. Covers towing, rentals, even covered my headlight washer.

my working list...
Oil feed and return lines from the turbos.
All tranny seals
All drive shaft and axel seals.
Valve Cover Gaskets
Breather hose..the one that causes excess internal pressure and oil seal leaks.
CV Boots and Joints.
Air Bags/Springs
Diverters and associated hoses.
Pressure test the intake
Its only a start, VAGing for codes is also a good idea.

Not necessarily the servicing dealer
FYI, I bought my ar in 9-06 from a VW dealer. Had 47k and a week to go on factory warranty term. They offered me the plan I have for $3700. Finished haggling at $2300. Maybe thay would at least give you a least of dealers nearby offering their contract. (Incidently it is the finest car I have owned in 38 years.)
