Hello .........I have an interesting one here .
My AllRoad 2002 has very poor AM Reception as do
my brothers and sisters All Road which we purchased as a group via my company.
Audi says that the reception is within spec. There is an unusual pulsing RF sound that happens every .5 second or so . With ignition off it clears up but is still very hazed. I do not wish to install a seperate antenna and I am wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and been able to fix it ..

I live in Phila and my AM reception is pretty good. My FM is a little weak, especially on heavily overcast days.

first,did you all have your windows tinted?does the problem also effect the telephone[if equipped].will the radio scan stations until the cows come home?need more info.

Had the problem on my '01 Avant, and now on my'02 AR. I live in a rural area. Audi spent weeks diagnosing the problem on the Avant, without success. I listen to a lot of cd's in the AR until I am closer to transmission sources.
My wife drive a '02 A6 2.7T, and the radio reception is 100% better than mine. I think the problem is particular to Audi wagon type cars.

Windows have standard factory tint only, as does our '02 A6. Every possible problem or remedy (including radio replacement, antenna replacement, wiring harness between antenna & radio replacement, and other electronic part replacements) were made. This is my 13th Audi, so I am some what familiar with the way radio reception in the vehicles should be in the area that I reside. The reception is OK in urban or suburban locations, by very poor in rural areas. And further more, the problem has only been present on my '01 A6 Avant, and in my '02 AR.
