Anyone go from 2.7T sedan to allroad?
I'm running out of warranty on my 2000 2.7T sedan. I really like the car and I've been thinking of getting the same thing, or something similar again. I have to have a manual transmission, and I know I like the engine already. I'm thinking of an allroad so I can add a little offroading, the roof rack, the cargo space etc. I'm a little concerned about the difference in feel that adding high profile tires (have 235/45-17 on A6 now) and weight is going to make. Has anyone else made this transition and, if so, what are your comments? Do you miss the sedan's handling or acceleration? Did it seem like a drastic jump? I live in warm weather but I'd like to drive to snow once a year and maybe do as much offroading and aesthetics would let me.

Re: Anyone go from 2.7T sedan to allroad?
My wife has a 2001 2.7 tip sedan, and I have a 2002 AR tip. Her A6 is quicker, because it is lighter. I also have more tip lag, because my wife is more aggressive with the gas off the line. I really can't tell that much difference in handling. Both are the basic models without any premium options. Just had the AR to Big Bear Lake to ski, was fun to drive up and down the backside of the mountain to get there. We're both happy to drive either car.

went from 2000 2.7T to 2003 ar
my 2.7t had a 6spd and my new ar has the tip. even given the weight difference and the move to the tip, the ar is fun to drive...and MUCH more capable in sloppy weather such as we've been having here in the Boston area the last 24 hours.
I would caution, however, that the ar is NOT for serious off-roading (a la a Jeep). think of the ar as a fast, luxurious tank without the SUV heft.

Yes, Audi took my '02 2.7tip sedan with shimmy back and I selected a '03 ---more
Allroad tip as a replacement. This is what I notice different--more responsive throttle--feels quicker at low end, might be the gearing--tip shifts quicker in tip mode--stays in 1st gear in tip mode(doesn't shift to 2nd at 5MPH)--engine has more muted sound--Exhaust sometimes rumbles at idle until fully warm--steering effort better--good boost at slow speeds and nice feel at speed--more steering feedback--better tool kit than sedan--don't like the blow-up spare tire(whats with the 16" alloy wheel on the spare??)Less road noise on rough roads--don't miss the Bose radio--do miss the parktronic--Don't miss the tip switches on the steering wheel--love the 2 tone tan interior and the alpaka beige exterior--Pirelli tires quiet and smooth(hope they stay that way for a while)--will report more as miles pile up.

what is the "bose" situation I keep hearing about? Is the normal stereo not available in the allroad? I know there is a 6 disc indash changer now. I figured the normal amplification and speakers were also involved - or am I wrong?
