Is Audi just trying to same money here or are the new ones better? Anyone had a chance to compare them?

Default My guess is that it was done to differentiate the 2.7Ts from the 4.2s...

as that's how they split the caliper allocations.

But, caliper performance between these choices is really a function of flex - and the corresponding pedal feel. That's a fairly subjective thing to measure that is overshadowed by things such as the amount of air/moisture in the brake fluid, amongst others... But, there's no doubt, stiffer calipers will yield better pedal feel.

I was initially upset about the change in spec due to the apparent unavailability of aftermarket pads for the new calipers. With that problem eliminated, and the pleasant surprise of low pricing for the new calipers' pads, I'm not too concerned about them.

I was being serious when I answered your question previously with "the one with the better tires". =) That's the first thing to upgrade to improve stopping distances.

Default Thanks for your response!

I guess I was wondering about the reliability & performance of the new rotor/pad/caliper setup compared to the old one. From your response, I gather there doesn't appear to be much difference. Perhaps it's a "time will tell" thing.

I hope there aren't any reliability issues... but as you say, time will tell. =)
