that's what I started doing yesterday for a little while, but was afraid to break something.
I got the pinch bolt out by driving a screwdriver under the head...
Thanks.
Thanks.

Probably the butter knife you'll use. J/K The tool is cheap and it really makes the job easier.
I remember I really had to hammer that ball joint separator. I can't imagine trying to use anything else. Does anyone else have any input?

I'm sorry to inform you, BUT...its not necessary to take the pinch bolt out!

Airsprings can be installed with out having to do this, its just wasted effort.
Here is how you change an airspring... remove the lower shock bolt, raise car, remove the bolts the hold the strut hat to the body, turn the shock enough to get at eitherside of the control arm where they attach to the strut hat, voila you have just removed the strut!
I can do it in less than an hour!
There is absolutely no need to mess with the pinch bolt!

actually I did mine without removing both of those bolts, only the left one
loosen the right bolt and twisted the entire unit to the right.(you have enough room to remove the torx screws, and put them back)of course all the other steps I followed.
