Dash Lights
Dash Lights.
I have had my allroad now for 10 months.
On my previous A6 the back lighting on the dash
Came on with the ignition, but on the allroad it
Only came on when the headlights are switched on.
Yesterday I drove a new A6 and to my surprise the
Background lights come on with the ignition.
What does your allroad do?

Are you outside the U.S.???... 8-)
I'm assuming you are in EU (or outside the U.S.) since the TDI allroad is not sold in North America... Hence it would make sense you notice this difference.
Most EU safety standards are slightly ahead of U.S. standards - the "glow" of the instrument cluster is considered a "safety feature" for when driving in inclimate weather. The concept is if it gets gray or "dark" out or you drive into a tunnel, etc. you can still see the "necessary functions" to safely operate your vehicle. SAAB and Volvo have done this since the early 80's...
Otherwise U.S. spec Audi's "illuminate" when the headlamp switch is activated. 8-)

Canadian 02 ar - on with ignition (+park +fog)
The Canadian cars have the park lights and dash lights turn on with the ignition. As well, if you have the HID low beam headlights, then the fog lights come on with the ignition as well for DRL purposes. Without HID, then I believe the low beams (at reduced intensity) come on.
