Does this work for rear pad replacement? And, what tool can I use to retract the caliper pistons?

I always used a BAscrewdriver, but aritcle uses needle nose pliers. Is there a PepBoys alternative I can use?

I have used a pair of water pump pliers and a c-clamp in the past. I did break down and buy the Harbor Freight brake tool. Well worth the $40.00 plus shipping

Not the most graceful, but you can usually make this work:

Press and turn. Most c-clamps have a swivel head on the threaded rod
You tighten the clamp up nice and firm and then use channel locks or somethign to turn the swivel head on the clamp. Due to pressure the friction should be enough that the brake piston will turn too. Once it goes in a bit the friction will reduce and you'll have to tighten the clamp up again. It need good firm pressure in addition to the turning.
