Finance Question
#11
Was out (ridin' ) yesterday. . . (in the sprinkles)
Pulled the trigger on a road glide in December. Put on rineharts (and a big bore kit). I know I gave up power to the V&H 2:1. Oh well. Still have my fxr.
I was thinking of calling on you once I get my new ar to help with the H-sports (and maybe 402 mod). Stay tuned.
If you're ever down here (either on bike or ar), let me know.

Re: Finance Question
We opted to lease our most recent Audi, they had a great deal running at the time, implicit interest rate was like 1.2%. We had previously done a special deal with Mercedes Benz Credit Corp where we actually gave them a 2nd mortgage on our house and the deal had a baloon to keep the monthly payments down (also made interest tax deductible which reduced cost a lot). When we traded our A6 Avant for the ar we were upside down on the loan by about $4K from what they would give us on the trade. With a baloon they can set it higher because they don't have any risk.
We opted to lease this time and let them take the risk and, as stated above, the lease deal they were offering was really good.
The payment on the loan (w/baloon) calculates out to $653. What is the lease payment? I would expect the lease to cost a little more as they are taking the residual risk (but they usually set it to minimize that risk).

I've been leasing for years... (1977 monte carlo... don't laugh..)
The Baloon note provides a bit more flexability for us with regard to re-sale, mileage, etc.
I can't rationalize puttin money down on a lease, when I don't own it. The baloon changes this thought process. (such as it is).

Re: Finance Question
Have not reviewed the Audi premier but had a baloon plan a few years ago. This has been my only nonleased vehicle since 1986. The problem with the one I was on is that I assumed all risk for the residual. The bottom fell out on the resale and I dumped the car before becoming upside down on the loan. Also in the state on Minnesota the sales tax is an issue. Paid full 6.5% on the purchase price and only kept the car for 30 months. On a lease the tax is on your monthly payments. The next car I went back to leasing and even though it's capital cost was $15k more overall expenditure for 30 months was less than the baloon.
