Re: garage door opener.
I went to search forums and found 1043 posts on garage door openers. followed some threads and called up homelink. they told me that because I have a black antenna on my motor that the homelink transmitter wont work, and that I must buy a universal one. 70 $ plus shipping and handling.. advised home Depot. So I guess I have found answer, and will cease fruitless programming attempts . Thanks all.

It's a diabolical process. You need the original transmitter, the receiver, and the car visor.
First program the car to the transmitter. That's easy. If there is a rolling code - Program the receiver to the visor. You are done. Get the instructions and follow the steps. Know that the press and release intervals may vary. Try it a couple of dozen times before you give up.

What color is your antenna wire sticking out?
I had the same issues and found I needed to buy a new updated board for my opening with a yellow antenna instead of the white one. Took ten minutes and cost $75 but love the HomeLink feature.
Call your local Dalton dealer and give them the model number and they will tell if it is compatible with HL.
