Default Good Discount Tire experience.......................

I had Falken 512's put on about 3 wks ago. The narrower profile and the uncertainty of winter performance started to bother me. I stopped by the local Discount Tire shop on Saturday and addressed my concerns and with no problems they will be replacing the Falkens with the same model Contis I had previously. All I had to pay was the difference in price which was about $100 total. Nice to get good customer service these days.

I've been quite pleased with DiscountTire over the years. Good prices, great service.

what bothered you about the narrower profile? harsher ride? I'm looking at 18" wheels with the Falk

Default Did not feel surefooted during turns as my previous Contis...

The narrower profile of the tires also made the wheels look too set-in in relation to the fender flares. I would not worry about the Falken 18" since they are most likely 245's or wider.

Default Yes, Bill at hartmann is recommending 245s which cost an extra $50 per tire...

$1000 becomes $1200. The good thing is that he could ship them to a ups store in Buffalo for me and that way I don't have to pay taxes or duty since they are made in Italy.

The deal he cross posted here includes 225/235 falkens and he said I need 245s. I don't quite understand why though. The f6 is 18x7.5 so if I need 245s for the ar who would use a 225. I mean it's the same wheel and a 20mm variance seems like a lot for such a low profile tire.

Default Best time to schedule new tires. . .

I also had great experience with Discount Tire, just last Saturday. Great service and price. I got Falkens put on, and I love 'em.

A little bit of advice, set up an appointment on a Sat. morning when it's supposed to rain. I had three guys working on my car, since I was the only one in the garage at 8:30 am.

They're also known as "America's Tire Co." and have an internet presence.
