Default Hello all,

New to the forum. Finally found the right AR at the right price. Have an 03 w/ 35k on it. Still figuring everything out.

I'll keep lurking to learn.

Default Re: Hello all,

Suppose I'll give you a vehicle history to show you how i got the AR. Curious has others whittled it down as well.

Fiat X1-9 1976
Nissan Sentra 1984 +
Ford Pickup 1978
BMW 2002 1976
BMW 320i 1983 +
Ford Bronco 1969
BMW 325e 1986 +
Dodge Dakota 1988 and a 1992
Mazda 626 1986 beater for a while
Saab 900 SE 1996
Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9l 1998 +
Subaru Outback 1998
Audi Allroad 2003

Those with pluses show I owned that and the one after at the same time. Loved the BMWs and they taught me german engineering can keep a car running tight until 175k+ miles, but they currently do not offer anything close to the Allroad in versatility. The saab taught me turbos are nothing to be feared (had 175k trouble free miles on that one as well when it sold).... and the American cars made me realize they fall apart at 60-70 thousand miles, and japanese cars aren't much fun.

Here I am.

Default I think your "story" is similar to many of us...fun and performance do come at a price, but

most days it's worth it

Default What did the fiat teach you?! ...

My first car was an 850 spyder...and also my 3rd one, so I didn't get the message! Now I'm searching for an old Alfa to throw money at. Welcome to the forum.

Default got an '03 myself, w81K miles...

being an upper 40yr old with wife, kids and dog, practicality had to be a major factor in my decision to get an allroad. But it doesn't mean you're dead! You can still have a great performing, fast car with all the bells and whistles you could want, in a "fine european" automobile. It doesn't have the stigma of a Benz or BMW (which is fine), but the build quality is there. Great car even after 3 years and many miles. Have fun with it!

Honestly, taught me how to replace a water pump gasket in about 10 minutes on the side of the road. It was pretty much like clockwork if under 35 degrees out, 5 miles down the road... gasket would give.
