Default How to tell which chip mfg I have

Got my car back from my braindead Audi dealer today. Back in the shop for the fourth time with same issue (hesitation under acceleration). EGS , TBB, TBS, 80k service, DV and yes turbos replaced plus a clean 80k service. Think at this point the car would run as smooth as glass. But no.

Injectors were the last update they did now I haven't gotten the car back yet (a whole other story) , but they called and said they took a picture of the ECU and that I had an aftermarket chip with programming port on it. I think that might be awesome and save me from spending money on one. But how do I know who the mfg is. Need to figure out so i can have them reflash it or tune it.

Default Access Port on the chip?

only one manufacturer has a chip with a progamming port and this is APR.
The way to confirm this is with the engine on, push and hold your cruise controll button. In about 10 seconds the CEL will come on and start flashing, then in about 10 seconds it will change the pattern to a more rapid flash. Now you are in "enhanced mode".

This would be APR 3.0 and I had this and yes, there were problems with it. The newer APR 5.0 is a smoother program. I'd go to an APR Dealer and ask for their help.

Default Re: Access Port on the chip?

No luck but I still contacted APR direct and they walked me through a few things. Since I bought this used CPO I have no way to get a hold of the previous owner. Andy at APR thinks it is theirs but might have an access code to it.

The closest APR dealer is about 90 miles away so need to get time and $ to head to one to figure out.
