Default intermittent temp gauge...

Started on Friday night... cruising along with the usual 12 o'clock position and then slowly drops to C. then inexplicably climbs slowly back to normal.

Sender? Moisture in a wire harness? Is the allroad going through menopause?

I had a 99 A6 that would do that. I never did find out what the issue was before I traded it for the AR. However, I would just watch the oil temp closely to make sure it didn't raise unexpectantly.

Default If it's vehicle speed dependent (higher speed, lower coolant temperature), then thermostat is bad (

can not close completely).

Default not speed dependent. Just likes to meander

I want to repair whatever the fault is... I guess I can break out the bentley but I was being lazy and wanted someone to chime in with "it's Fitzer value bearings" or something.

Default I will guess ECT sender. You can confirm this by VAG-COM, checking ECT on module 01 when temp gauge

is low.

Another worst case is the instrument cluster. You should also check the ECT reading on module 17.
