Looking to buy an Audi Allroad but apprehensive
I've had several Audi's A4 / VW Passats and know what to look for as for the maintenance issues, but not familiar with the Allroad. I am looking at a Black 2005 Allroad with a 2.7 turbo engine and Manual Transmission. I haven't been much of a fan of the Allroad's looks, but this one is quite stunning. I have heard that the suspension is a guaranteed failure, but he has replaced 3 out of 4 with OEM parts and has receipts. The other issue that I have heard of is that the transmission is not really meant for the horsepower from the 2.7 turbo or 4.2 V8 that came in these models and therefore is also an extremely high fail part.
Question #1: Since this model has a 6sp Manual Transmission, is it less likely to fail?
Question #2: Are there other high fail parts such as bushings, turbos, timing belts/chains, heater core, ect that I should be paying special attention to?
Thanks!

The arnott brand of aftermarket air springs seems to be better than the continental brand that were oem. The tiptronic doesn't seem to have any issues handling even the elevated hp and tq of the 4.2 v8 that is in my 2004 allroad, ( that's for sale in the classifieds BTW) I've got nearly 200k on the stock transmission and it shifts perfectly.
I personally passed on several 2.7t allroad's, even a 6spd one because the 2.7 is far more need as to costly maintenance versus the rare 4.2 v8 that has timing chains and no belts or turbos to fail. The timing belts are expensive, and the turbos are expensive to replace.
My allroad has been just as, if not even more reliable than our same year v8 v8 4runner that has nearly 40k less miles.
The forums will save you a ton of money.
While I'll be leaving the Audi forums as soon as I sell my allroad, this site and others have been a godsend. I honestly would've never purchased an Audi if it weren't for the forums.
