I think they are all VW approved. Whick oil do you use and why. Is there one type or brand that seems better than others?

Default I have been using 10w60 castrol motorsport for last 2000 miles good for Turbos

Yes this is the M3 oil or similar to rs6 oil. In cold weather will go back to ow40. I believe audi had a tsb about this oil for turbos.

Default Always liked Castrol products...

in my family we've got 2 cars(Benz & Saab) with over 300,000 miles on original engines, and still going strong, and 2 more well over 200,000 miles on my rebuilds, both of which are GM V8s. All have run on Castrol GTX(not sythetic), my dad does his changes at 5000 miles, I like to do mine at every 3333 miles, that way I change whenever the odo reads 3333, 6666, or 9999. The ar is my 2nd car to run synthetic(Castrol Syntec), so in it, I will do changes at 5000 mile intervals, which is half AoA recommendation. I think it's cheap insurance for long life, and if you couldn't tell, we keep our cars for a long time.

Default Been through the M1's, both 0w40 and 5w40. Now looking at the Castrol 5w40 oil analysis...

...and I'm going to stick with it.

Default

Didn't care for the 5w30 weight I had years ago in my S4 - I had lifter valve ticking.
