In a 2001 allroad tip w/ GIAC, you modestly accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h (roughly 35mph) and coast. You hear a soft huuunnhhhhhhhhh sound, roughly in "F", kind of like your horn at volume 1 instead of the usual 10. It continues as long as you coast at that speed until you drop below approximately 20km/h, at which point it suddenly disappears.
If you accelerate modestly only to 35km/h, it never appears.
Any ideas?

Step 1 vag com & run any fault codes
Step 2 try it in tip and then try it in d (i.e. a specific gear and then just general D for Drive.
if that still doesn't isolate it, I'd suggest having someone look at the wheel bearings as an FYI.
although more info would help.

I have the same(similar) sound....GIAC, too
No fault codes....sounds like it comes from the rear of the car...maybe a fuel pump working overtime? Not the compressor..had a leaking airspring, know what that sounds like!

Does the sound occur if you keep your foot in the gas, or only when you coast?
If the sound is dependant on speed, then it is something either vibrating, or something spinning.
Wheel bearing? DV? Axle Boot?
