Default One week up on my new-to-me allroad experience. Many thanks to Rushpuppy for selling me his allroad

and to Tenacious auDi for pointing the car out to me.

04, 18,xxx miles, prem, cold, park, rear airbags, very nice car. Already had h-sports and giac x flash.

I currently drive a stg 3+ b5s4 with suspension and brakes.

Things I like about the ar --

quiet
nice storage
usable back seat
it's newer

Things i don't like about the ar --

suspension -- it's got to go. the compression damping is okay but the rebound sucks. its handles dips in the road poorly. I don't mind the cornering too much. The h-sports help reduce body lean but i can't stand the feeling when the road drops away. I have ohlins back in nashville ready for install...

brakes -- those solid rear discs look sad. anyone done the s8 rear brake mod? Do you need new calipers? The brakes actually feel pretty good but I will be putting the stoptech 332s i have on the fronts and vented discs on the rear.

power -- i'm not sure this car is 100%. I'll log it when i get home but i sense a small boost leak. I get some surging under throttle and it pulls inconsistently. We'll see. Eventually i'm going to add either k04s or gts to this thing. That should fix that.

trans -- this thing hates cold weather even more than my s4. i'm going to swap the trans fluid for motul 300 and see if that helps.

Overall, the ar is a very nice car. I'm very happy with my purchase. I have an RNS-e on the way and i'll swap the XM for sirius adding BT and DVD.

Also need to install the lidatek, hardwire a v1, change all the fluids, etc. etc.

Happy allroading.

Did you ever drive an ar without H-Sports? Now there is almost Buick for you. Enjoy.

Default has the ride been modded with the 402?

I found that is does make a difference especiall on level 1. The shocks are compressed a bit more and they don't rebound as much.

Default What impact could the 402 have on the air bags?

Obviously, I would think camber issues, but aren't you putting more stress on the bags?

Default I may be wrong, but..

...there is less PSI in the bag at lower levels. Its the increase in pressure that is raising the car to higher settings.

The rebound is a function of not only the force of the spring but the damping valves in the shocks. So at a lower level even without the 402, there is less (spring) force pushing back on the shock and the body.

Default The pressure it has to increase to raise the car.

the roll is so it can expand with the raise.
This is why there is a compressor and a storage tank. There is nothing else to the system that will allow the rise in height.
