Default Q: Driver's door light switch issues.... (BTW, Happy Halloween)

My driver's door light switch is either stuck on its way out. The cabin lights won't go on when I open the door (PITA at night). Does anyone have a diagram of the lock unit and where the light switch fits into the equation?

Many thanks...

IIRC its the door handle itself.

Default Does the car otherwise recognize that the door is open? (i.e., with the ignition on, do you hear the

door open chime when you open the door?)

Default No, I don't along with the "Your lights on" warning chime.

Which is why I finally addressing this issue. Went out to the car last night after work only to find out that my driving lights were on since my lunch run for my wife's B-day present. Luckiy there was enough juice left to turn the engine over.

Default If I stick a screw driver in the lock assembly and work the action, I can get the lights to work.

This would lead me to believe that there's a switch component there.

Default I don't know about the lights on chime problem, but it sounds to me like it's not the light switch

(I don't think there is a separate light switch).

The problem is the door latch. Try spraying the latch on the door (i.e., where it contacts the latch on the body/frame) with PB Blaster. Other lubricants (e.g., WD 40) don't work, but for some reason PB Blaster tends to work.

See my post above. Spray that "lock assembly" (what I call the " door latch") with PB Blaster.
