rear hatch not locking

rear hatch not locking

I push the button on the remote I get the ligths flash and the little fart noise but if I open the hatch it will open and the alarm will go off

whats wrong?

3rd row seats? Took me awhile to figure this out too. Open the lift gate there is a child lock switch similar to what you find on the rear two doors. Simply choose the other setting

no 3rd row

no I dont have a 3 row seat
and I dont have any switch around the door or frame

but you got me thinking
I played with the button inside the car (which is really stupid to have and has no purpose) that didnt change anything

so I stuck my key in the lock outside the car which didnt go in all the way so I lubed abit played with it and voila works again

not sure what was happening but my car is secure now so I am happy

I have a 2005 with the same issue. Once I read you post, I lubed the key and turned it back and forth a few times and it began to work fine. Thanks for the advice.
