Secondary Air Pump Replacement

Secondary Air Pump Replacement
Hello all,
I was wondering if someone could help me out with a little advice.
My 2005 Audi Allroad has the codes for the secondary air pump. I got quoted $860 to replace the pump. I was wondering if this was high or accurate? Just wondering if I should take my vehicle elsewhere.
Thank you in advance!

If you can't fix it yourself, you're sort of at the mercy of the shop you use - was that at an Audi dealer? It's not hard to get a pretty stiff bill for any repairs these days with $150/hour labor rates. There are threads on this forum on how to fix the SAP - it's just a fan that blows extra air into the exhaust in the first minute after a cold start to help light off the cat converter. Mine's been fixed twice in the 14 years I've owned my car and it's been dead again for over three years now. Not having it doesn't hurt anything, you just have the light on the dash all the time...I just ignore mine.

a factory one is about $550 - $700, so if they are charging full list price plus 1 hour labour then that's about right.
the fans are actually a bosch unit, you can buy one for about $240, (check ECS or similar Mfg#: 078906601H) and its a DIY about 30 minutes including wash up. from memory its just an 8mm allen key and a 10mm spanner
