I ordered a Kamei A6 grille for my allroad thinking they were the same, but I found out they are not(says it on the box too, along with it not fitting A6 4.2 )

Does this mean the S6 grilles might fit??

grille should fit both '01 and '02 allroads.
I don't know why a grille intended for a non-4.2 A6, pre-'02 should not fit on an allroad, except perhaps that the clip areas are different, but otherwise the grilles are the same.
But, definitely the '02 A6/S6 and any 4.2 grille will not fit on an allroad.

on the Kamei box it said it wouldn't fit the allroad or 4.2 A6.

I guess you could ask your service department/parts department what the difference is between the allroad grille and the A6 2.7T/2.8 grille ('98-'01 only). They REALLY look the same. Perhaps someone here has both cars and can directly compare. Just very surprising that they'd be different, but I guess they are.
Definitely, though, the all 4.2s, all S6s, and all '02 A6s will not fit as they have the squared off bottom to the grille that reaches all the way to the bumper.
Good luck, though...but damn, I am surprised somewhat...although a similar thing happens with the 4.2 and the S6...although identical size grilles, they clip on in different places, requiring a slight mod to put an S6 grille on a 4.2. Why does Audi do these strange things?

then it has a stick that says allroad quattro 'with an 'X' through it along with 'A6 V8' with an 'X' though it.

When I was trying to install it it seems like the bottom contour was off...I guess I could try bending it but I want to confirm its the right part number first.

i think u should just call lltek and find out
