suspension fixed...not.

Well, I took in my allroad to have the suspension diagnosed as the dash suspension warning light had been illuminating with more frequncy and I had intermittent sagging on the driver side rear. The shop diagnosed the problem as a faulty height sensor at the rear drivers wheel and replaced. After picking up the car and driving all of about two blocks the warning light came on and resulted in me returning to the shop. I left the car there, but the techs were scratching their heads, leaving me feeling not to confident in their ability to properly diagnose and repair the problem. I'm waiting for them to call me back so that I can post the error codes that they pulled from the computer. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If a corner is sagging that means there is a leak, most likely the shock

Perhpas I'm simplifiying this, but I don't think this one is any great mystery. I think I'd find a different shop.

error codes

Test results from fault codes stored in ECM memory:
00774 - Level Control System Sensor; Left Rear (G76)
57-10 - Electric Circuit Failure - Intermittent
01771 - Control Module for Headlight Range (J431)
79-10 - Please Check Fault Codes - Intermittent
00774 - Level Control System Sensor; Left Rear (G76)
37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent

The bags only don't throw a warning to the dash so I think you have at least two things going...

the air spring on that side may be bad, but it is kind of rare on the rear, but there must be some height sensor or compressor issues or you wouldn't get the warning light...I have replaced three air springs and none of them threw a warning to the dash, nor a VAG code as I understand it...I would find a good GERMAN indy that understands the issues with this car...they don't have to work on that many to know they are different from your standard A6...good luck and I feel your pain as I have tutored one German indy, one good VW indy and my local tire guy (good wrencher) on how to take care of my car...that is why this forum is so invaluable...I'll let the others fill in the tech details but these are my thoughts.

FWIW.. mine throws the warning light until the compressor inflates it back up to proper height

that's my experience too. I'm presuming it's the bags, it's in the shop next week.

Well you need to understand that there are a few systems that use the info from the height sensors.

That's why you get the headlight control module error code thrown in there as well. These are one of the most complex cars on the road. Finding out what is wrong from the error codes is not always easy. It could be from a faulty connection at the sensor - These are known to do that.
