Used allroad advice needed
First, I've driven VW's and Audi's for 20 years now, nothing but great things to say about them. I love my current Passat 4Motion sedan, but it's time for a new toy that will carry my son's toys and a golden retriever. Living in the Adirondacks, an allroad makes a lot of sense.
I've just found a used one, price sounds right and I'm gonna try to buy it this week. A couple of questions:
1) What effect does resale have on the factory warranty (this is a 2001 with under 10K miles). I know that on resale VW cuts the drivetrain warranty in half.
2) What typical issues are there on 2001's that I should check out? I know that '01 was the first year, some things are probably more likely to fail than others.
3) Anyone have a good source for extended warranties on used cars? If I buy this I'll probably keep it for 100K+ miles. I do a LOT of driving, probably 40K/yr.
Thanks in advance,
Cecil

Fins are optional
Okay, a little more info - apparently this is a flood damaged car from the storms in Houston last year that was "in deep", with salvage title (and thus no factory warranty).
I'm not interested in a car that's been underwater, but if anyone else is it's at Countryside Motors in Colchester VT, and listed on AutoTrader.com for $33,995 with 5778 miles.
Anyone know of a clean, used allroad, preferably 6-speed, at a reasonable price in the Northeast?
Thanks,
Cecil

Maybe
Try calling Robert at 440-232-4700 x133. He is at an Audi dealer in Cleveland. I had a great experience with him and the whole place. They are a hugh dealer, and might have something for you. I think I saw a silver one on their showroom floor that was a 2001, but I'm not sure if it was a 6spd.
cheers, to you success.
